The current situation of the italian labour market

From the statistics it results that when searching staff, one of five positions remains unoccupied (20%) because of the difficulties in finding the required professionals.

Some statistical information:

There are about 200.000 jobs considered difficult to cover, about 20.6% of the analysed 970.000, despite the high number of unemployed people in Italy today.

It is complex to find the correct profile especially among young people. The ICT companies and the metallurgical and electronic industries signal critical points in finding proper staff due to the inconsistency between training (education) and production.

Also within the various departments of the company there are serious difficulties in finding the proper human resources!

According to a recent market research, it is foreseen that in 2018 (20% of the foreseen entries), followed by Lazio (10%), by Veneto and by Emilia Romagna on the same place (9%) etc. shall offer more work opportunities.

The percentages related to the failure to cover the available jobs in the company compared to the total offer of the Italian labour market in 2017:

1. Specialists in IT, physics and chemistry (88% not covered)
2. Trainers, teachers and instructors (66% not covered)
3. Designers, engineers (59% not covered)

Contrary, in the internal areas of the company it is more difficult to find turners and staff for machine tools (64% not covered in both cases).

In the departments there are retrieval difficulties, which vary between 70% and 90% not covered.

Also the companies’ commercial departments have difficulties in finding the staff meant for the sales area (45% not covered). But, in this case, what is really missing is a proper training, as there are few schools and universities with specific and specialized classes in this field.

IN CONCLUSION, IN THIS HISTORICAL MOMENT, DESPITE THE HIGH NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE, IN ITALY MANY OF THE AVAILABLE JOBS CANNOT BE COVERED BECAUSE OF THE ABSENCE OF PROPER STAFF.
